Salary: $40,000 to $52,000/year

About Progressive Turnout Project:

Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) is the largest voter contact organization in the country. Our mission: Get Democrats to vote. We design, test, and execute specialized voter turnout programs targeting inconsistent Democratic voters in the most competitive elections up and down the ballot. Since 2015, our trained Field staff, Fellows, and volunteers have made more than 59 million voter contact attempts across 39 states. PTP is grassroots funded, with more than 2.2 million unique donors and an average contribution of $17.39.

Position Summary:

PTP seeks applicants for our HR Assistant role. In this position, the right candidate will help PTP’s HR team support the onboarding of up to 5,000 paid staff members for the 2022 election cycle.  This position is based out of our downtown Chicago office.

Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, the HR Assistant will be a highly organized individual who is able to set-up and execute systems to complete background checks, confirm offers, process onboarding paperwork, maintain records and ensure that new employees have a positive first experience when joining PTP. 

This position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k), student loan repayment assistance, public transportation stipend (for HQ-based staff), paid time off, and paid holidays.

There are no formal education requirements for this position. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary support to the Payroll and Benefits Manager, and Talent Manager
  • Complete background checks and confirm employee eligibility or raise potential issues to the HR Director
  • Download and file hiring paperwork from the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Maintain personnel files electronically
  • Reorganize physical personnel files in the office
  • Upload personnel file documents for active employees into the HRIS (Paychex)
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll
  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned

Required Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):

  • You have successfully worked in a position that requires excellent organizational skills and you are highly detail oriented
  • You are comfortable learning new technology
  • You are proficient in G Suite Products (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc)

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

  • You have human resources experience
  • You are fluent in Spanish
