Position Summary:

Progressive Turnout Project (PTP) seeks applicants for the Community Mobilization Organizer role to support a group of contractors (Community Mobilizers) in their relational organizing efforts and conduct outreach to community organizations within your assigned city. This work will be based on PTP’s successful pilot program in Virginia in 2021 (which was modeled after the groundbreaking work done by the Jon Ossoff for U.S. Senate runoff campaign).

Reporting to the State Relational Organizing Director, the Community Mobilization Organizer will be responsible for implementing the program in your assigned city ahead of the 2022 general election. This includes working with program staff to conduct outreach to community organizations and local businesses for recruitment purposes, conducting interviews and orientation sessions and eventually building relationships with at least 200 paid contracted Community Mobilizers during the final few weeks of the 2022 election cycle. You will be the point of contact for dozens of Community Mobilizers and will help them navigate our relational tech tools and answer questions about voting and other topics while informing them of their progress to hitting their contractual obligations.

This position will be based in one of our targeted major metropolitan cities. As such, travel will be required within that greater geographic area from the launch of the program through Election Day and soon afterward for distribution of payment.

This position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k), student loan repayment assistance, transportation stipend, paid time off, and paid holidays.

There are no formal education requirements for this position. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply our organizational values (grit, excellence, community, innovation and inclusion) with a commitment to understanding the ways that race and other identities intersect in this work, especially within the communities we serve
  • Under the supervision of PTP’s State Relational Organizing Director and in collaboration with program staff, you will be responsible for implementing the 2022 Relational Organizing program in your designated city through your work in, but not limited to,  the following areas:
    • Recruitment and Onboarding: Work with the team to recruit, vet, interview and onboard up to 300 Community Mobilizers within your program state
    • Supporting and Teaching: Participate in leading orientations to ensure that Community Mobilizers understand their role, are able to use the technology,  and are ready to talk with their networks about voting
    • Engagement and Troubleshooting: With clarity and compassion, respond and support Community Mobilizers  by troubleshooting any questions or concerns, providing motivation and a sense of community, and work through any problems that arise
    • Quality Control and Offboarding: Ensure completion of contractual obligations (conversations per week) of the Community Mobilizers, confirm payroll data and assist in payroll distribution
  • Following safety protocols for COVID, travel as needed within program cities for recruitment, gain on-the-ground insight into program execution, and assist in offboarding logistics
  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned

Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):

  • You have 1+ cycle of political and/or outreach experience (as paid staff or a volunteer) that has contributed to positive team culture, strong community ties or outreach
  • You have exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills that you have used to communicate to a diverse set of audiences
  • You reside in a program state and within driving distance to a targeted city
  • You are proficient in G Suite Products (Google Meet, Google Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc)
